Professor Ilangovan from the University of Hyderabad gave a lecture series on Lie Algebras.
Abstract: In this series of 4 lectures, we introduce Lie algebras and classify all simple Lie algebras over C, the field of complex numbers. In the process, we will study nilpotent and solvable Lie algebras as well. We will also see the very interesting combinatorial objects called root systems. During the whole series of lectures, we will be discussing concepts, examples and ideas involved and no proof of any theorem will be given.
