Dept. of Mathematics, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute (RKMVERI) has organised an colloquia on “Diophantine approximation in global function fields” by Professor Dinesh Thakur, University of Rochester on 22 August 2024.

Title: Diophantine approximation in global function fields

Abstract

We will describe how despite some strong analogies,  similar basic tools and basic theorems, the analogs of some well-known theorems are not even conjecturally understood in function fields, and describe some partial results and open questions.
